CLEANING GEAR (NO SUDS)

Any type of fabric can become damaged from its contact with chloride salts. Perspiration as we know it. Chloride salts, when left on a fabric, can bleed dyes, slowly discolor and eventually deteriorate a fabric.

Cleaning – Outer Gear Jacket, bibs, gloves, hats & equipment

Use Nikwax Tech Wash non- detergent cleaner or similar product. Due to differences in your gear please test first.
 

Recipe for Non detergent cleaner: 1/4 cup each of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, 20 Mule Team Borax (Dial Corp) stirred into a container of very hot water. When the powders are dissolved, add a bit of plain white vinegar. For scent, you could add lemon juice or even vanilla.

Boots, Snowboard or Ski
If liner removes, as in a ski boot, remove the liner and run water through the plastic shell. Then use non-detergent cleaner, run clear water through 3 times as a rinse.
Let dry outside. Drying takes a week. Use a hair dryer to help speed drying.

Skis:
Run clear cold water through the binding and skis. Dry with towel, and air dry.
Record the DIN number setting on the front and back binding. Secure the record on the ski. Use a screwdriver to back off, reduce the setting. Use a bit of wax and run along the ski edges to prevent rust.

Snowboard:
Run clear cold water through the binding. Dry with towel, and air dry. Use a bit of wax and run along the ski edges to prevent rust.
